JWMS PRIDE Winners- October 2025

Congratulations goes out to the students listed below who were selected as JWMS P.R.I.D.E. Award winners for the month of October  2025!

  • GRADE 5 –  Isabelle Brunetti and Madison Muscaro

  • GRADE 6 –  Keith (Josiah) Martinez and Jaide Napper

  • GRADE 7 –  Elizabeth Veliz Jimenez and Dominic Hoyos

  • GRADE 8 – Sang Dinh and Layah Idiculla

Each month, our teachers and staff acknowledge students for random acts of P.R.I.D.E.
(Preparation, Respect, Integrity, Determination, and Excellence), the 5 Wallace pillars of
academics and behavior we wish to see in all of our students. P.R.I.D.E. is also the heart of our school mission
statement.

When students are "caught" performing an act of P.R.I.D.E. (i.e. returning a wallet
they find to the office, assisting a new student become acclimated to their new school, choosing
to sit with a student at lunch who might be alone, etc.), the student is rewarded with a P.R.I.D.E.
ticket.

At the end of every month, we select two students at each grade level who are recognized as our P.R.I.D.E. award winners of the month. Winners receive their name in the weekly email blast and get a free Wallace P.R.I.D.E. t-shirt, water bottle or notebook!  All other P.R.I.D.E. nominees for the month will win a $5 Wally Bucks card they can redeem at the school store.

Congratulations to our October winners!

Honoring our Veterans at JWMS

This year, Veterans Day will be observed on Tuesday, November 11. Our students and staff will engage in a in a variety of activities next week to educate our students about our veterans and honor their service. This will include our Grade 8 Veterans Day Ceremony for local veterans that is held each year. Due to weather conditions on Tuesday, the ceremony will be held indoors at JWMS rather than the Iwo Jima Memorial in New Britain.

🍂 A Season of Gratitude and Reflection

As we move deeper into November, the air of thanksgiving is all around us. It's a perfect time to pause, reflect, and express our sincere appreciation for the dedicated people who make the John Wallace Community so special.

Mr. Tirillo and I want to take this opportunity to share how truly grateful we are for our outstanding staff and incredible teachers here at John Wallace Middle School. Each and every day, they consistently go above and beyond. They work tirelessly to create a positive and inclusive learning environment, tailor their instruction to meet individual student needs, and foster the growth and success of every child. Their support for our students and the wider school community is invaluable.

Please join us in offering a huge thank you to our entire wonderful staff!

Share Your Story of Thanks
Since this is the season of being thankful, we often hear such wonderful stories from our families about the significant impact our staff has made on their child and family. We would love to hear from even more of our families!
If you are willing to share a quick story about the positive influence one of our teachers or staff members has had on your child or family this year, please take a moment to share it.

  • What are you thankful for from your child's experience at JWMS this year?
  • How has a staff member or teacher made a difference for your child?

It would mean the world to our staff, and we would love to share your feedback and stories of appreciation directly with our faculty.

Thank you again for your continued partnership in your child's education. Your support helps make John Wallace such an exceptional place to learn and grow. If you have a moment, please click on the button below to share a story of thanks!

Thank you!

📵 Partnering for Focus: A Cell Phone Policy Reminder

To ensure a focused and productive learning environment for all students, we want to remind all of our families and students of our school and district policy regarding cell phones and other electronic devices.

Once students enter the school building, all electronic devices must be silenced and stored securely (in a pocket, bag, or locker).

The only exceptions to this "put away and silent" rule during the school day are:

  • When a student's Individual Education Plan (IEP) or 504 Plan specifically designates the use of a device.
  • When a teacher directs the class to use a device as part of their instruction.

Students are permitted to use their cell phones prior to the start or school and only after dismissal from the building at the end of the school day.

We Need Your Help!

We recognize that cell phones are a vital tool for communication outside of school hours. However, we have seen an uptick in non adherence to our policy over the last several weeks.

We are asking for your help and partnership. Please take a moment to speak with your child about the importance of adhering to this policy. Remind them to silence their device and keep it out of sight while they are in the building. Your assistance in reinforcing this expectation at home is crucial to maintaining a strong learning environment here at JWMS.

Thank you for your cooperation and support in helping us keep our students focused on their learning during the school day.

Important Safety Reminder: Designated Drop-Off and Pick-Up Loop

The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority. We want to thank the vast majority of our families who already follow our established traffic procedures, helping to keep our campus safe and orderly during peak times.

We are sending this important reminder regarding the designated areas for student arrival and dismissal.

All student drop-offs and pick-ups must occur in the official Parent Drop-Off Loop, which is accessible solely from Halleran Drive.

We have recently observed an increasing number of parents utilizing the Teacher/Staff Parking Lot for both morning drop-offs and afternoon pick-ups.

To ensure the safety of every student and maintain an orderly traffic flow:

  1. Always use the designated Parent Drop-Off/Pick-Up Loop off Halleran Drive.
  2. Follow the flow of traffic within the loop and use caution.
  3. The Teacher/Staff Parking Lot is strictly reserved for faculty and authorized school vehicles only.

Your commitment to adhering to these procedures ensures a secure and smooth start and end to the school day for our entire community. We deeply appreciate your cooperation in prioritizing safety above all else.
