The Governor's Visit To JWMS

Yesterday morning a press conference was held at Wallace to support legislation that would provide universal breakfast for all students and free lunch for students who are eligible for reduced price meals.

Governor Lamont, Lt. Gov, Susan Bysiewicz, Commissioner of Education Russell-Tucker, Mayor Trister, Board Chair Perrotti, State Reps Turco and Farrar and I were on hand to make remarks in support of this legislation.

Wallace students were able to meet the Governor who then went into the cafeteria and served lunch to fifth graders. The Governor and Lt. Governor were incredibly impressed with our food service team and students!

Assistance with Absences or Tardies

A reminder to all families, if your child will be absent or tardy to school, please send a ParentSquare to our main office. You can also call our main office at 860-667-5888 to report the absence or tardy but either a written note or ParentSquare will still be needed to excuse it.

We would appreciate your assistance in ensuring the main office is always notified of any absences or tardies. In addition, if you need to get a message or notification to your child, please contact the main office and we can relay the message.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Parent Pick-Up and Drop Off Reminders

A reminder that the drop off location for all students is at the John Wallace loop. It is important to note that students should not be dropped off prior to 7:45. Staff will be on duty to assist students beginning at 7:45.

If you will be dropping off your child to school, please ensure you use the designated drop-off area between Wallace and Paterson. Please do not drop your child off anywhere on Halleran Drive especially at the curb areas as this will cause serious safety hazards with oncoming traffic.

The area adjacent to the entrance to our bus loop is not a drop-off or pick-up area. We will be adding signange to prevent traffic stopping in this area.

We also ask that all vehicles use proper traffic procedures when on Halleran (e.g. no u-turns, no stopping at undesignated areas or blocking our bus entrances or exits). The area adjacent to our bus loop is not a drop-off or pick-up area. Please use the loop

We appreciate your compliance with our traffic and parking regulations as student safety at drop-off and pick-up is our priority.
