Important Information From The School Nurse

Dear Wallace Parents,
As we prepare for the close of the school year, this is a friendly reminder that all student medications must be picked up from the Nurse’s Office by the end of the school day June 22nd.
Please remember to collect:
💊 Daily medications
🫁 Inhalers
💉 EpiPens
🚑 Emergency medications
📋 Medication authorization forms for the upcoming school year will also be available at pickup.
Parents/guardians are encouraged to complete and return updated forms before the new school year begins to help ensure medications can be administered without interruption.
⚠️ Please note:
  • Medications cannot be sent home with students unless prior arrangements have been approved according to school policy.
  • Any medications remaining after the pickup deadline will be disposed of following district medication and safety guidelines.
If you have any questions regarding medications, physician orders, or health forms for next school year, please contact the Nurse’s Office before June 22nd.
Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us keep all Wallace students healthy and safe throughout the school year!
Hope you all have a wonderful summer!

Art Show And Permanent Collection

Over the past month, our community center proudly displayed wonderful artwork from schools across the district. We are incredibly proud of the pieces showcased by our Wallace students. In particular, we want to congratulate Ashley Magnuszewski, whose artwork was selected for the prestigious NPS Student Spotlight Permanent Collection! Check out the video below to see highlights from the event and her winning piece.

2026 Bookmark Contest Winner

In celebration of School Library Month, the Connecticut Association of School Librarians (CASL) organizes a bookmark design contest each April. The contest, which was open to all JWMS students, challenges participants to design an original bookmark about their school library, books, or the fun and adventure of reading. Our school library received many fantastic entries! The bookmarks designed by Aviana Punzalan (5th) and Allison Mao (6th) were chosen to represent JWMS. It was recently announced that Allison's art won in the Grades 6-8 category! She will be receiving a certificate from CASL and her design will be featured on actual bookmarks as well as a poster that will be displayed in the library!

Thank you to all the students who participated in the contest! Start planning your designs for next year!

Assistance with Absences or Tardies

A reminder to all families, if your child will be absent or tardy to school, please send a ParentSquare to our main office. You can also call our main office at 860-667-5888 to report the absence or tardy but either a written note or ParentSquare will still be needed to excuse it.

We would appreciate your assistance in ensuring the main office is always notified of any absences or tardies. In addition, if you need to get a message or notification to your child, please contact the main office and we can relay the message.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Parent Pick-Up and Drop Off Reminders

A reminder that the drop off location for all students is at the John Wallace loop. It is important to note that students should not be dropped off prior to 7:45. Staff will be on duty to assist students beginning at 7:45.

If you will be dropping off your child to school, please ensure you use the designated drop-off area between Wallace and Paterson. Please do not drop your child off anywhere on Halleran Drive especially at the curb areas as this will cause serious safety hazards with oncoming traffic.

The area adjacent to the entrance to our bus loop is not a drop-off or pick-up area. We will be adding signange to prevent traffic stopping in this area.

We also ask that all vehicles use proper traffic procedures when on Halleran (e.g. no u-turns, no stopping at undesignated areas or blocking our bus entrances or exits). The area adjacent to our bus loop is not a drop-off or pick-up area. Please use the loop

We appreciate your compliance with our traffic and parking regulations as student safety at drop-off and pick-up is our priority.
