Civil Rights Youth Summit: Attorney Pipeline Program
Posted Date: 09/15/26 (03:16 PM)
Greetings
My name is Attorney Cheryl A. Sharp, Deputy Executive Director at the Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities. I wanted to share an exciting opportunity with you that I'm hoping you'll share with your 8th grade and high school students who have an interest in careers in public interest law and social justice. This year, the CHRO is sponsoring the Civil Rights Youth Summit: Attorney Pipeline Program on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the UCONN Law Campus.
Having a long-standing career of more than thirty years in civil rights, which I am extremely passionate about, the necessity of now dictates that the knowledge and experience I have attained be passed on to the youth. Our youth represent the future, and they are the best hope we have to shape our society into one that is equitable, just and equal for all.
At the summit, we will help prepare the students for a future in law, introduce them to the role of the judiciary and case analyses, hold interactive law school classes, give hands on case briefings and a guided tour of the campus! All of this to show the possibility of world transformation through the legal profession.
I hope you share in my enthusiasm and feel motivated to extend this invitation to your students by posting the attached flyer (link and QR code are in the flyer). Or you can share the link below. Students can use the link or QR code to register for the event. We will be accepting students on a first-come, first-served basis, so we encourage that they register quickly to reserve a spot.
Thank you for all that you do and for considering this invitation.
