CT Grown for CT Kids Week

Posted Date: 10/05/26 (06:46 AM)

This week (Oct 5–9), our school cafeterias are celebrating CT Grown for CT Kids Week with an incredible, five-day farm-to-school lunch menu!

Our amazing cafeteria staff has been working tirelessly behind the scenes—developing brand-new recipes and preparing these delicious meals from scratch. Scratch cooking for the entire district is a massive undertaking, and we are so proud of their hard work and dedication to our students!

By sourcing these fresh ingredients locally, we are reinforcing our commitment to Connecticut agriculture—keeping your hard-earned money right here in our communities and supporting our local family farms. Tomatoes Clip Art Free PNG Image|Illustoon Eggplant PNG Transparent Images Free Download | Vector Files | Pngtree Zucchini Clip Art Free PNG Image|Illustoon  Colorful Bell Peppers Clip Art Free PNG Image|Illustoon A detailed digital illustration of a whole white garlic bulb against a plain background.

Here is the mouth-watering lineup our team is cooking up this week:

  • Monday, 10/5: School-made BBQ beef (local) meatloaf, school-made local mashed potatoes, and a sweet citrus apple slaw made with fresh local apples and cabbage.

  • Tuesday, 10/6: School-made eggplant (local) parmesan served over penne with local marinara sauce, paired with fresh roasted garlic (local) green beans (local).

  • Wednesday, 10/7: School-made stuffed peppers (local) with beef and rice topped with local marinara sauce, served with local roasted beets and savory black beans with local red peppers.

  • Thursday, 10/8: School-made zucchini (local) lasagna with ground turkey, featuring honey (local) roasted local carrots, and local parsnips.

  • Friday, 10/9: Bruschetta pizza topped with local basil and tomatoes, served alongside a mixed greens (local) salad with local cucumbers, onions and a school-made honey (local) apple cider vinaigrette dressing.

Ask your kids what dishes they are most looking forward to, and help us give a huge shout-out to our hardworking kitchen rock stars and our local farmers!
